The Boring Tool Stack That Actually Ships

Five categories, one choice each, then stop shopping.

There is a founder disease more expensive than any subscription: tool tourism. Weeks comparing website builders, migrating notes apps, redesigning the CRM — motion that photographs like progress while the venture stands still.

The stack a one-person venture needs is five choices: somewhere to be found (a clean website you own), somewhere to talk (one email + WhatsApp, professionally used), somewhere to track (one sheet or simple CRM for leads and clients), somewhere to get paid (UPI/bank + clean invoices), and an AI helper for drafts and summaries. One choice per category. Adequate beats optimal, because switching costs compound and mastery of a boring tool outperforms novelty forever.

Rule: no new tool unless it kills a weekly pain you can name aloud. Revisit the stack yearly, not monthly.

Ventures are built on customers, offers and follow-ups. Nobody's obituary ever said 'chose the wrong notes app'.
