Before planning the next chapter, mine the first one — especially the parts that went wrong.
Every senior professional has two résumés. The public one lists titles and wins. The private one — almost never written — lists the deal that collapsed, the promotion that went elsewhere, the project everyone abandoned, the year that simply hurt. Written honestly, the second document is more valuable than the first.
Write it in an evening: every significant failure, what it actually cost, and — the important column — what it taught that you still use. Patterns will surface: perhaps every failure involved partners chosen in a hurry, or ignoring early warnings, or over-trusting charm. Those patterns are precisely what your next chapter must design against.
There is also unexpected fuel here: seeing in one place how much you have already survived is the strongest answer to the fear of starting again. You have failed before, at scale, with witnesses — and here you are, planning the next build.
Wisdom isn't the absence of scars. It's the filing system for them.
