Digital Hygiene for the New Founder

Five unglamorous habits that prevent very glamorous disasters.

Nobody starts a venture dreaming about passwords. Then one locked email account, one expired domain or one WhatsApp scam later, digital hygiene suddenly becomes the most interesting subject in the world. Five habits prevent nearly all of it.

One: own your accounts — domain, email, hosting, socials registered to YOU, not to a vendor's convenience; vendors should have access, never ownership. Two: a password manager, so every account has its own strong password. Three: two-factor login on email, bank and anything with money. Four: backups on rhythm — documents and the website copy, monthly, checked once a quarter. Five: slow down on anything urgent — urgency is the scammer's signature; real institutions survive a ten-minute verification call.

Set all five up in one honest afternoon. Then it's maintenance measured in minutes per month.

Boring? Completely. So is insurance — until the day it's the only interesting thing you own.

Take with you

Password manager + two-factor on anything with money.
Backups monthly; test them quarterly.
